The bananas used in our organic banana powder are sourced from certified organic cultivation in a sustainable agroforestry system in Brazil, which combines arable farming with forestry. The annual crops are grown alongside perennial trees, shrubs and bushes. This method of cultivation is more ecologically viable than monoculture plantations because it preserves the natural diversity of the ecosystem, which in turn leads to nutrient-rich soils. The bananas are cultivated without the use of pesticides or artificial fertilisers.
Local farmers are responsible for hand-harvesting the ripe fruits from small, sustainable plantations. Only fully ripe bananas are harvested. They are then processed immediately in order to preserve their valuable nutrients and full aroma.
Freeze-drying, a gentle drying process that does not involve the use of heat, is the best known method for fully preserving the nutrients found in fresh fruits. Following this process, the bananas are gently ground, resulting in a high-quality, nutrient-rich raw food powder with an aromatic, full-bodied taste.
