Our premium, high-quality organic coconut oil is derived from sun-ripened coconuts, freshly-harvested by independent organic farmers in the Philippines. The quality of the coconuts, as well as their gentle processing within 72 hours of harvest, gives the oil its pure and fresh flavour, and makes it biologically valuable.
The gentle and rapid processing contributes significantly to the preservation of the coconut flavour in the cold-pressed oil. We use a processing method known as the VCO process, which is distinctly different from the (cheaper) KOPRA process. According to the VCO process, the coconuts are peeled, then their white flesh is grated and gently dried. The extra virgin oil is then produced, using a cold-pressing process. In contrast to VCO coconuts, KOPRA coconuts are pressed while still inside their brown skins, then chemically deodorised to make the oil edible.
