Guarana

The guarana plant is native to the Amazon basin and belongs to the soap tree family (Sapindaceae). Named after the indigenous Guaranì people, the plant has a long tradition as a medicinal plant. Its seeds are valued as an ingredient for creating stimulating drinks or as a food supplement due to their antioxidative properties. The polyphenols (especially catechins and epicatechins) are responsible for its antioxidant effect, while guarana's stimulating character is due to the purine alkaloids caffeine, theobromine and theophylline - a complex of ingredients similar to that of cocoa.

Extremely high caffeine content (2.7-3.2%)

Our guarana powder, made from ground whole guarana seeds in the finest, certified organic quality, contains the full range of guarana's high-quality active ingredients and secondary plant substances. Due to gentle processing, it has a high natural caffeine content of 2.7-3.2%. The high-dose caffeine of the organic guarana seeds has a milder and longer-lasting effect than roasted coffee due to the tannins that are also contained in high amounts. Due to the high caffeine content, however, the consumption of guarana is not recommended for children or those pregnant or nursing.

Die Guaranapflanze ist im Amazonasbecken beheimatet und gehört zu den Seifenbaumgewächsen (Sapindaceae). Benannt nach dem indigenen Volk der Guaranì kann die Pflanze auf eine lange Tradition als Nutz- und Heilpflanze zurückblicken. Ihre Samen sind geschätzt als Zutat für anregende Getränke oder als Nahrungsergänzungsmittel wegen ihrer antioxidativen Eigenschaften. Verantwortlich für die antioxidative Wirkung sind die enthaltenen Polyphenole (v.a. Catechine und Epicatechine), während sich der anregende Charakter den Purin-Alkaloiden Koffein, Theobromin und Theophyllin verdankt – ein Komplex an Inhaltsstoffen, der dem des Kakao ähnlich ist.

Unser Guarana-Pulver aus gemahlenen ganzen Guaranasamen in feinster, zertifizierter Bio-Qualität enthält die volle Bandbreite der hochwertigen Wirkstoffe und sekundären Pflanzenstoffe der Guarana. Durch die schonende Verarbeitung weist es einen hohen natürlichen Koffein-Gehalt von 2,7-3,2% auf, wobei das hochdosierte Koffein der Bio Guaranasamen durch die ebenfalls in hohem Maße enthaltenen Tannine milder und langanhaltender wirkt als gerösteter Kaffee. Aufgrund des hohen Koffeingehalts ist der Verzehr von Guarana für Schwangere, Stillende und Kinder jedoch nicht empfohlen.
