How are we different?

Our premium lucuma powder is made from organic fruits grown in Peru, where they flourish at altitudes of 1500–3000m far from major cities, surrounded by the untouched flora and fauna typical of the Ayacucho region in the Peruvian Andes. The lucuma fruits are gently harvested by hand between November and March.

After harvesting, the selected whole fruits are simply pitted, gently dried at temperatures below 45°C and ground into a fine powder. This best preserves their valuable phytochemicals. As fresh lucuma ferments very quickly, processing it into a powder or frozen pulp is ideal.

We use particularly high-quality, airtight flavour protection bags with zippers for packaging. These offer a high level of protection against moisture and external influences.

Region and Processing

The lucuma fruit is endemic to the high altitudes of the western region of the Peruvian Andes, as well as Chile and Ecuador. Lucuma has a long tradition of cultivation and is today one of Peru's most widely grown fruits. Due to its mild, sweet flavour, which is reminiscent of mango, caramel and camomile, the fruit is traditionally used by locals to refine desserts. In Peru, lucuma ice cream is even more popular than vanilla or chocolate ice cream.

Uses

Preparation

Add to food and drinks as desired. Suitable for daily consumption in smoothies, shakes, mueslis, for baking and desserts.

Lucuma is a relatively mild sugar substitute. 2 teaspoons of lucuma powder is equivalent to 1 teaspoon of sugar.

Contraindications

Note: If you are diabetic, discuss the consumption or dosage of lucuma with your doctor.

Lucuma powder is not very water-soluble and is therefore more suitable for dishes and desserts (see above) than for tea and coffee.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.
