These trees require the special tropical climate of this region, with its high humidity and warmth, for their balanced growth. The wood is collected by hand throughout the year according to CITES standards, then chopped into smaller pieces and gently steam distilled. The essential oil of Aniba rosaeodora includes the aromatic compounds linalool, alpha-terpineol and alpha-copaene.

We source this essential oil from a small business located in the heart of Peru, founded in 2011. The passionate employees are specialised in hand harvesting the native plants from which they gently steam distill their essential oils and hydrolates. The founders are committed to contributing to reforestation efforts as well as providing education and fair working conditions to the local indigenous peoples, and they have partnerships across Peru; farms and businesses who have committed to treating the plants and the rainforest to their same quality standards.
Rosewood
A member of the laurel family (Lauraceae), rosewood trees have become endangered due to the unsustainable practices driven by the trees' high value. They are mainly found in South America and have robust, shiny and vibrantly green leaves which grow up to 20cm long. The flowers, arranged in panicles, turn an intense pink. The rosewood tree can grow up to 40 metres tall.
Aroma
The nuances of this oil, reminiscent of dark honey with hints of floral and woody notes, have an exhilarating and relaxing effect on the body. The mind becomes stimulated and subtly energised.
