origin

Finest Origin - Highest Grade

These pepper trees grow in the humid and changeable tropical climate zones of Sri Lanka. The selected terroirs for cultivation and climatic conditions are the ideal prerequisites for the growth and development of the pepper's valuable flavours and natural ingredients, such as alpha- and beta-pinene, beta-caryophyllene and sabinine. The fruits are harvested by hand, sun-dried and processed in the manufacturer's distillery using steam.

Farm

We source this oil from an award-winning manufacturer in Sri Lanka that has been producing high-quality spices, plant extracts and essential oils from conventional and controlled organic cultivation for around 40 years. The manufacturer has its own farms and co-operates with contract partners who meet the high quality standards and company ethos. The quality of the essential oils reflects the values of integrity, social responsibility for people, animals and the environment as well as fair trade and ethical principles of our manufacturer.

plant

Pepper

Pepper (Piper nigrum) is an evergreen climbing plant that belongs to the pepper family (Piperaceae). Originally from India, the plant is now cultivated in many regions of South East Asia and Brazil. The plant grows to a height of around 10 metres and produces leathery, heart-shaped leaves and small white flowers in summer. After fertilisation, the flowers ripen into spherical, red fruits. Pepper is harvested and dried at different stages of ripeness for the different varieties (green, black, white, red pepper). Black pepper is probably one of the oldest commodities in the Orient, where it has been used for medicinal and culinary purposes for thousands of years.
