This lemongrass grows in the beautiful, tropical Western Province of Sri Lanka. There, the windy and hot weather as well as the nutrient-rich soil offer optimal growing conditions for the plant, allowing it to develop components such as geranial and neral, which contribute to its aromatic, fresh aromas. Cultivation is carried out by a cooperative of farmers and, following harvesting, the leaves are processed on-site via gentle steam distillation.
The manufacturer of this essential oil is a family-run company based in France, which was founded around 1990. It specialises in the certified organic cultivation of indigenous aromatic plants, and has global cooperatives. The aromas of the plants, obtained either via steam distillation or cold pressing, is highly regarded in the perfume industry. The many years of experience in organic cultivation as well as a passion for production are reflected in the harmoniously balanced essential oils. Lemongrass is one of many species of grass within the Poaceae family, and is native to eastern India. It is perennial and grows in clumps with hollow, tube-like shoots, which taper into straight leaves with rough edges and a strongly citrus scent. Flowers are formed in the early summer. The plant can grow up to 1.5m tall.
