During collagen synthesis, amino acids are strung together to form a polypeptide chain, a process which is assisted by essential vitamins, minerals and trace elements.

MSM is a source of organic sulphur and an important building material in the body, especially for the scaffold protein collagen; it is also a component of glutathione.
