The sweet and aromatic basil is grown organically in the fertile lowlands of Terai and the mountain region at elevations between 300-1500m. In these subtropical and temperate climate zones with fresh, humid and hot weather conditions, basil develops its aromas harmoniously, such as linalool, bergamot or 1,8-cineole. The latter is responsible for its fresh aroma. The delicate plants are carefully harvested and sorted by hand in June and July. The delicate plants are then gently steam distilled. This care and experience in cultivation, growing and the distillation process is reflected in this delicately aromatic essential oil.

Basil
The origin of the short-lived herbaceous plant from the labiate family (Lamiaceae) is thought to be in the tropical regions of Asia or Africa and the popular culinary herb is cultivated worldwide today. It is believed that basil (Ocimum basilicum) was brought to Greece by Alexander the Great. The botanical name Ocimum comes from the Greek word okimon, which can be translated as fragrance. The epithet basilicum is derived from the Latin word basilicon, which means ‘royal herb’. The aromatic plants can grow up to 70cm high with leaves up to 5cm long and spike-like inflorescences with small white to pink-coloured blossoms.
Aroma
The vitalising, fresh aroma invigorates when exhausted and calms stress. It helps us to focus our thoughts and to visualise, manifest and break new ground with a clear head.
