The basil plants are cultivated organically by a family-owned farm located in a tropical mountain area of Nepal. The business was founded in 2010. In this region, the fresh, humid and hot weather conditions allow for the harmonious development of aromas in the basil plant, including linalool and geraniol. The plants are hand-harvested between June and August. After having been hand-sorted, the plants are then gently processed via steam distillation. The producer's passion and experience are reflected by the high quality of the aromatic essential oil.

This family-run producer was founded in Nepal around 2010. The producer regularly recruits new farms for cooperation, and farmers are thoroughly trained in organic cultivation methods. The farm's essential oils are derived from plants which are all either wildcrafted or cultivated organically, in the mountains of Nepal. The plants are then processed in the producer's own distilleries located across the country. The producer's passion for growing and nurturing aromatic indigenous plants is reflected by the fine aromas of the oils. Most of the products are certified with the EU organic seal.

This basil thrives in its native region, in Nepal. It belongs to the Lamiaceae family and is often referred to as great basil. The plants can grow up to 50cm high, while the leaves grow up to 12cm long and 8cm wide. Over time, the flowers turn from white, to pink, to deep red in colour.

The vitalising, fresh aroma of basil oil has an invigorating effect. It has cramp-reducing, pain-relieving and stimulating properties, which is why it is often used in naturopathy to support stomach function.
