How are we different?

Our organic cashews are sourced from natural organic farming in Burkina Faso. West Africa provides an ideal terroir for cashew cultivation as cashew trees thrive exceptionally well in dry soils. The nuts are carefully handpicked, selecting only fully ripe cashew fruits. It is from these fully matured fruits that we obtain large, crunchy and aromatic kernels.

Unlike the typical practice of processing cashews in Asia, our nuts are processed directly in Burkina Faso. This reduces unnecessary transportation and creates job opportunities in the country of origin. After drying, the fruits are mechanically separated from their hard shells, and the edible kernels are meticulously sorted by hand. The kernels are neither roasted nor salted, preserving their completely natural quality and their distinctively rich, sweet, and nutty flavour, as well as their crunchy yet buttery texture.

CASHEW

The cashew tree grows in tropical climates and bears cashew kernels in a hard shell on its ripe fruits, which are called cashew apples. The tree develops a fine, widely branched root system and grows even in nutrient-poor, dry soils. The name "cashew" is derived from "acaju," which is a word from the native Brazilian Tupi language meaning "kidney tree," referring to the shape of the kernels. Cashews are known for their distinctively mild and subtly sweet flavour and their crunchy, buttery texture.

Cultivation & Processing

Our organic cashew kernels come from organic farming in Burkina Faso. Only the fully ripe cashew fruits are collected; fruit and kernel are then separated and the kernels are dried. Afterwards, the cashew kernels are extracted from their hard shells mechanically and the edible cashew kernels are carefully sorted by hand.
