Vitamin D3 is found almost exclusively in animal products, meaning that the vitamin D3 found in supplements is usually obtained from raw materials such as sheep's wool, fish oil and shellfish. Plants, on the other hand, contain only very small amounts of the much less effective form of vitamin D2. However, years of research have recently led to the discovery of a completely plant-based source of vitamin D3: a multi-stage process, which includes the conversion of plant precursors into bioactive vitamin D3 and intensive purification, results in a D3 crystallisate with a purity of over 99%. This means we can now offer entirely natural and vegan vitamin D3 products with Sunferol® D3 Vegan.

All-trans Vitamin K2
Vitamin K2 exists in various molecular forms, which are designated as MK-4 and MK-7 depending on the length of their side chains. MK-7 is considered the most potent form of vitamin K2, as it remains active in the body for an especially long time and covers functional K2 requirements even at low doses. However, there are further variations within the MK-7 form, and only the trans form possesses full biological activity. An active ingredient declared as "all-trans" must therefore consist of at least 98% vitamin K2 MK-7 in this active trans form. Nevertheless, particular caution is advised in the field of vitamin K2. Despite manufacturer claims, extensive label fraud occurs here; independent laboratory tests prove that many supplements declared as "all-trans K2" actually often contain only small amounts of all-trans vitamin K2. We completely avoid all of these otherwise common hidden additives. Vitamin D and K2 are fat-soluble vitamins that can only be absorbed by the body when combined with fats. We therefore use a particularly high-quality MCT carrier oil from coconut. In contrast to other carrier oils (e.g. olive oil), pure MCT oil provides optimal protection for fat-soluble vitamins, thereby ensuring maximum active ingredient stability. The medium-chain fatty acids in MCT oil are also a valuable nutrient in their own right. Our oil is processed in the Netherlands and cultivated without the use of plant protection products. The producer also guarantees that no monkeys are used to harvest the coconuts.
