How are we different?
This selenium contains exclusively 100% natural, purely plant-based forms of selenium from mustard seeds. These are naturally rich in a variety of different organic selenium compounds. The majority is present as natural L-selenomethionine, the most important dietary form for humans, which exhibits high bioavailability. Many other naturally occurring forms of selenium and phytochemicals in the seeds complement this natural complex.
In contrast to conventional plant extracts obtained using various solvents, the extraction here is performed solely with water—without the use of solvents such as n-hexane, methanol, or acetone. The water extract obtained from the mustard seeds is standardised to 0.7% natural selenium. Ongoing laboratory tests guarantee the selenium content as well as the absence of heavy metals and pesticides.
As the only other ingredient, we use pure natural premium acacia fibre (gum arabic) from cultivation without plant protection products as a filler. In contrast to the synthetic fillers often used, such as microcrystalline cellulose which can contain nanoparticles, we use acacia fibre—another natural, fibre-rich food—as a filler. Our acacia fibre comes from climate-neutral, sustainable, resource-efficient, and fair cultivation.
For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.

Selenium in Mustard Seed
The mustard plant is a member of the cruciferous family. In addition to organic and inorganic selenides, mustard seeds are rich in the selenium-containing amino acid selenomethionine. With an absorption rate of 80–100%, organic selenium is highly bioavailable and occurs in combination with other compounds found in the seeds.

Daily Requirements
To avoid developing a deficiency, the official daily requirement for selenium according to the German Nutrition Society (DGE) is 30µg–70µg (NRV: 55µg).
