The rosemary grows in the vast nature of Andalusia, Spain, where the Mediterranean climate allows for the formation of a rich concentration of phytochemicals within the plant due to its seasonal temperature fluctuations. This species of rosemary contains high concentrations of cineole and is often found in Spain.
The fresh herbs are processed by experienced producers via gentle steam distillation. This essential oil reflects the unique aromas of the plant.
The manufacturer of our high-quality essential oil has been producing its own essential oils since 1970 in the region of Murcia on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. The essential oils, which are either cold pressed or gently steam distilled in a stainless steel tank, are derived from wildcrafted and certified organic plants or from the company's own controlled organic cultivation. The farmers and distillers plant, harvest and produce their essential oils according to ISO standards, an expertise which is reflected in their harmonious aromas. The fragrant rosemary shrub is an evergreen which belongs to the Lamiaceae family. Its purplish blue to white flowers are popular with bees and butterflies; the shrub can grow up to 1.5m in height and diameter. Rosmarinus officinalis is native to the Mediterranean region, but is also successfully cultivated in locations with a similar climate, such as Madagascar. Depending on the precise climatic conditions of the area in which a rosemary plant grows, it produces different nutrients in stronger concentrations, which is why there are so-called chemotypes (ct.), such as cineole, camphor (borneol) and verbenone contained within the essential oil. Fresh and dried rosemary leaves are used in aromatherapy to vitalise body and mind as well as in cooking as a spice.
