The 230 different species occur in a variety of habitats, from mountains to deserts, and are mainly endemic to southern Africa. Pelargonium graveolens is also known as rose geranium or scented geranium. It grows bushy with slightly rough, slit leaves, which give off a scent of rose with subtle notes of lemon.
