Finest Origin - Highest Grade

Our special Resurrection Bush oil is extracted from plants growing wild in Angola. Resurrection Bush thrives in the shallow rocky soils along semi-arid mountainous terrain at 1200 meters above sea level in southern Angola. The extreme temperature fluctuations between day and night, dry winters and summer rainy periods cause the formation of its natural constituents such as cis-verbenol, pinocarvone and 1,8-cineole. The precious resinous twigs and leaves are collected by hand by experienced local communities, gently distilled with steam to extract the very aromatic essential oil. The long experience, the special manufacturing process, the quality control as well as the passion of the distillers are reflected in the authentic aroma of Resurrection Bush oil.

Farm

We source this essential oil from a certified organic producer based in Portugal that specialises in producing organic essential and botanical oils from sustainably harvested, wild plants in collaboration with local communities and farms in Angola. The harvesting is done by hand by the local indigenous communities, with respect for the environment and species protection. The essential oil is extracted directly after harvesting via a gentle steam distillation at the onsite distillery. The quality control department, which is responsible for managing the laboratory and ensuring the efficacy and safety of the products, also plays a fundamental role in the manufacturing process. Their expertise and passion are ultimately reflected in the fine aromas.

Resurrection Bush

Resurrection Bush (Myrothamnus flabellifolia) is the only plant genus in the family Myrothamnaceae. The plant is a woody shrub growing up to 50cm tall with strong branches. The name Resurrection Bush is derived from its long dormant period. For much of the year, this plant is found withered, an upright bundle of reddish-brown stems. As soon as it rains, the plant immediately comes to life with a multitude of small light green aromatic leaves perfectly designed to catch more raindrops. The plant is of great importance in African medicine and traditional culture in southern Africa due to its rapid regenerative ability. The leaves of the resurrection plant are traditionally used as a medicinal tea for colds, kidney problems, asthma, backache, headache and as a tonic. In the form of powdered leaves mixed with fat, it is used as a moisturizing agent for the skin and is scientifically researched in this regard by the cosmetics industry.
