We obtain this essential oil from a cooperative founded around 2005 in the heart of Madagascar. It works with small farms distributed throughout the country, which grow the various essential oil plants individually according to their climatic requirements or collect them wild by hand. After harvesting, the oils are distilled on site using steam. In addition, our manufacturer is committed to various social projects, such as reforestation and workshops for children and adults in Madagascar. The oils are produced according to EU organic standards and are certified with the EU organic seal.
Ravintsara
Ravintsara (Cinnamomum camphora), also called "camphor tree", belongs to the laurel family (Lauraceae). Originally it comes from tropical Southeast Asia and is now cultivated in corresponding climatic zones. In Madagascar, the camphor tree has been cultivated since the middle of the 19th century and it is already found growing wild in the northeast. It is evergreen with thick veined glossy leaves and has a growth height of up to 30 meters. In spring to summer it forms panicle-like flowers with greenish-yellow petals, followed by purple to black berries. The name Ravintsara comes from Malagasy and means 'good leaf'. In the ethnobotany of Madagascar, the dried leaf is used to strengthen the immune system.
Aroma
