How are we different?

Iodine as an active ingredient does not occur in isolation; it is always bound to a binding partner. For our tablets, we use highly bioavailable potassium iodide. The active ingredient is present in these tablets in over 99% pure pharmaceutical grade.

The only other ingredient we use for our potassium iodide tablets is premium gum arabic, a natural bulking agent grown without the use of pesticides. The tablets are pressed without any pressing additives, such as magnesium stearate. In contrast to the commonly used synthetic emulsifier microcrystalline cellulose, which is mixed with nanoparticles, we use gum arabic, a natural foodstuff rich in dietary fibre. Our gum arabic is cultivated ethically under climate-neutral, resource-conserving conditions. For packaging, we use environmentally-friendly amber glass with UV protection rather than plastic.

Effects

Iodine is an essential trace mineral. It occurs in large quantities in nature, especially in the sea, where sea algae enrich their cells with iodine compounds found naturally in seawater. Potassium iodide is a water-soluble compound that, in terms of its chemical makeup, can also be described as a salt of potassium and iodine.

According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA):

Iodine contributes to:

  • normal energy metabolism,
  • normal functioning of the nervous system,
  • the maintenance of healthy skin,
  • normal production of thyroid hormones and normal thyroid function
  • normal growth in children.

Dosage

Directions

Take 1 tablet (250µg iodine) with 200ml water before mealtimes.

Daily Requirement

The official daily requirement (DGE) for iodine in Germany is 180 - 200µg (NRV: 150µg). In certain circumstances there is an increased iodine requirement, for example, during pregnancy and breastfeeding (230 - 260µg).

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) considers a long-term intake of maximum 600µg iodine per day to be safe for adults. For children between 4 and 6 years, 250µg is the maximum dosage, and for 7 to 10 year olds can take 300µg per day.

Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced, varied diet and healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of young children.
