Tremella (Tremella fuciformis)

Also known as snow fungus or white jelly mushroom, the tremella is one of the most popular mushrooms in Chinese cuisine and medicine. Its manner of growth is particularly fascinating as tremella is actually a form of yeast that alone cannot produce fruiting bodies. Tremella first exists in a mucous form and grows until it encounters a suitable host: a member of the Annulohypoxylon genus of fungi. When these two fungi meet, the tremella forms a parasitic relationship to its host, its cells merge with the host, and from this fusion a tremella mushroom can grow.

The tremella mushroom is known on the one hand for its culinary uses in Chinese and Taiwanese food, and on the other hand for its cosmetic uses as an ingredient in anti-ageing and beauty products. The vital mushroom has a much higher water-binding capacity than hyaluronic acid.

Our vital mushrooms come from the most renowned Chinese region for vital mushrooms in Gutian County, Fujian (600-700m.a.s.l.). The cultivation of vital mushrooms is an ancient tradition here and produces mushrooms of unprecedented quality. The special soils, the sophisticated substrates and the climatic conditions in the untouched nature of this region protected by the densely forested mountains ensure a high concentration of the valuable mushroom ingredients. Our natural mushrooms come from purely organic cultivation from our EU organic certified partner farm. The mushrooms thrive naturally and are harvested by hand at the maximum of their ingredient content between July and October.

To further concentrate the beta-glucans contained in the mushrooms, the gently dried and finely ground fruiting bodies and stems of the mushrooms are processed into an extract. The extraction is carried out according to traditional methods using only water. Water extracts have been part of Chinese tradition and Western herbalism for centuries and have always been used to make plant extracts. They are among the gentlest extraction methods and result in a highly pure extract, free from any toxic residues of chemical solvents (such as acetone, N-hexane, methanol).

Take 1 capsule twice daily ( 500g Organic Tremella Extract per capsule) with food and 200ml of water.
