We source this essential oil from a small, family-operated company located in Sicily. The company was founded in the 1970s and specialises in the cultivation and cold pressing of citrus fruits. In addition to the decades of experience this producer has acquired in all steps of essential oil production, from the cultivation and care of the plants to the careful extraction of their essential oils after harvest, the particularly high quality of their organic essential oils can be attributed to the mineral-rich soils of the island and its Mediterranean climate.
Lemon
The lemon tree belongs to the Rutaceae family. It grows as a large evergreen shrub and has thorny leaf axils. In spring and summer, it is covered with fragrant white flowers, from which the yellow fruits grow. Originally from South East Asia, the lemon tree is now also found in Mediterranean countries with a similar climate, e.g. Spain and Italy.
