How are we different?
The knowledge of the Chinese tradition about the benefits and cultivation of vital mushrooms, which is more than 2000 years old, is unique. Even today, Chinese cultivars produce the richest mushrooms. Cultivation has been perfected to the point where cultivated mushrooms are in no way inferior to their wild grown ancestors. Our mushrooms come from Fujian in Gutian County, the world's most renowned region for vital mushrooms. Our partner farm is certified organic according to EU standards and attaches great importance to natural, traditional cultivation methods. The mushrooms are handpicked between July and October at the maximum level of content.
Mushrooms consist of the above-ground fruiting body and the mostly underground mycelium. The important constituents of the mushroom are concentrated in the above-ground fruiting body. Products from the underground mycelium are much cheaper, because it is much faster, cheaper and easier to grow, but they contain almost no valuable ingredients. Our mushroom powders and extracts are therefore obtained exclusively from the whole fruiting body of the mushrooms, including the stems, and contain the full wealth of valuable ingredients.
Among the most valuable components of the vital mushrooms are the mushroom polysaccharides, especially the beta-1,3- and beta-1,6-D-glucans. Our mushroom extracts bundle these substances into a rich concentrate. They are extracted by the traditional method using only water, the purest and gentlest extraction process. As a result, they do not contain any toxic residues of chemical solvents (such as acetone, N-hexane, methanol).

Mu-Err (Auricularia polytricha, Cloud Ear)
The mu-err mushroom may be familiar to connoisseurs of Chinese cooking, as this "Chinese morel" is called for in many Chinese dishes. Although this mushroom does not have a particularly distinctive taste, it is highly regarded for its texture. In the European context, records reveal that variants of this mushroom have been used in herbal medicine since medieval times.
Auricularia polytricha can be found all over the world on deciduous trees, especially elder trees. As translated from Chinese, other names for this mushroom include cloud ear and hairy wood ear due to its fuzzy exterior. Auricularia polytricha is very closely related to Auricularia auricula-judae, and in both Europe and Asia they are often interchangeable. The latter, translated from Latin, is also known as "Judas's ear"; a name that stems from the myth that this mushroom was growing on the side of the tree from which Judas hanged himself.

Our vital mushrooms come from the most renowned Chinese region for vital mushrooms in Gutian County, Fujian (600-700m.a.s.l.). The cultivation of vital mushrooms is an ancient tradition here and produces mushrooms of unprecedented quality. The special soils, the sophisticated substrates and the climatic conditions in the untouched nature of this region protected by the densely forested mountains ensure a high concentration of the valuable mushroom ingredients. Our natural mushrooms come from purely organic cultivation from our EU organic certified partner farm. The mushrooms thrive naturally and are harvested by hand at the maximum of their ingredient content between July and October.
To further concentrate the beta-glucans contained in the mushrooms, the gently dried and finely ground fruiting bodies and stems of the mushrooms are processed into an extract. The extraction is carried out according to traditional methods using only water. Water extracts have been part of Chinese tradition and Western herbalism for centuries and have always been used to make plant extracts. They are among the gentlest extraction methods and result in a highly pure extract, free from any toxic residues of chemical solvents (such as acetone, N-hexane, methanol).
