We use 100% vegan omega-3 fatty acid derived from algae. Although utilising fish oil is controversial due to its ecologically and ethically questionable production processes and the ways in which heavy metals can bioaccumulate in many types of fish, many omega-3 formulas on the market are derived from fish oil.
Our omega-3 stands out among these products thanks to its plant-based formula, which is derived from natural algae oil. This ethical, sustainable source of omega-3 fatty acids also contains many other beneficial phytochemicals, and is not contaminated by environmental toxins.
Our omega-3 is derived from the micro algae Schizochytrium sp., which has the highest plant-based DHA content available. This algae provides directly bioactive DHA, rather than just offering the inactive ALA precursor, as in the case of linseed oil. EPA and other omega-3 fatty acids are also contained.
The extremely low oxidation grade of oil (TOTOX value: 2 in the raw material, 10 in the final product) reflects the freshness of the algae oil.
The micro algae used for this product is cultivated in sustainable aquacultures that do not interfere with the sea's natural ecosystem, meaning that our omega-3 has no negative impact on fish populations or their natural food sources. No seawater is used here, so the algae oil does not contain iodine. Algae oil offers an eco-friendly source of omega-3, as many tonnes of carbon dioxide are bound from the atmosphere during the production process.
Our omega-3 oils come in amber glass bottles with high-quality glass droppers. The addition of natural rosemary extract and lemon oil give the oil a pleasant taste.
