Organic Wild Myrtle Essential Oil

Finest Origin - Highest Grade

Corsica's climatic conditions are optimal for the growth of the Mediterranean island's wild plants, including myrtle. The shrubs benefit from the mineral soil, wind, and alternating dryness and humidity to harmoniously develop their aromas as they grow. At optimal harvest time, the branches, leaves and blossoms are collected by hand and gently steam distilled at the on-site distillery. The essential oil of myrtle contains the terpenes alpha-pinene and 1,8-cineole, among others.

Farm

This essential oil is produced by a small family business in France that specialises in wildcrafting indigenous plants. Their passion for distilling wild plants began around 1990. At the time, they produced their assortment of high-quality essential oils at their small distillery, but by 2003 they were able to move into a much larger distillery where they conduct gentle steam distillation. The wild plants, some of them harvested at very high altitudes and some at sea level, are all collected by hand by the passionate staff. Any missing oils are sourced from partners whose origin and standards are also well documented. All their essential oils and other natural products are certified organic to EU standards.

Myrtle

Myrtle belongs to the myrtle family (Myrtaceae) and is native to the Mediterranean region, such as Morocco and the islands of Sardinia and Corsica. The evergreen shrub can grow up to 5m high and forms sturdy, glossy, lanceolate leaves and white, highly fragrant flowers. The flowering period is from May to July, after which its blue-black berries appear.
