These wild kanuka plants grow near the sea in the pristine nature of New Zealand's North Island. The tropical climate of this region offers perfect growing conditions for the kanuka, which can develop its special ingredients and aromas such as monoterpenes (e.g. alpha-pinene) and sesquiterpenes in a harmonious balance. The family business is passionate about its work with the indigenous plants and nature of this region. The branches are carefully harvested by hand with many years of experience and processed into this quality product in the company's own distillery.

The producer of our kanuka essential oil is a small, family-owned business based in New Zealand, which owns large areas in which the manuka and kanuka trees grow wild. The fresh leaves and branches are harvested gently by hand, following sustainable methods, then separated and processed via steam distillation. The products are certified with the New Zealand BioGro organic seal.

Kanuka (Kunzea ericoides) belongs to the myrtle family (Myrtaceae) and grows endemically in Australia and New Zealand. It can grow up to 8 metres tall and produces small pointed leaves and delicate pink flowers. The flowers consist of 5 round, delicate petals. In the traditional Māori tradition, kanuka is considered the “male” and manuka the “female” plant. Due to their high adaptability and resilience, they are known as pioneer plants in New Zealand and often grow in communities. At 150 years, kanuka has a much longer lifespan than manuka, which usually reaches an age of 50 years.

The resinous-sweet aroma conveys a feeling of strength and resilience during mental overstrain and nervous restlessness.
