The essential balsam fir oil comes from wild collection of the needled branches from untouched nature of Canada. The fir native there can develop freely here and their special ingredients, such as beta-pinene, alpha-pinene and limonene. The fresh air, the climatic conditions and the soil are optimal for their growth. For harvesting, which takes place in the winter period, the fresh needled branches are gently harvested by hand and processed in the local distillery with steam. The passion, experience in harvesting and distillation is reflected in this balanced essential oil.
We source this essential oil from a renowned and certified producer located in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. The company was founded in the early 20th century and has cooperation partners worldwide, small to large farms, where the plants' origin and quality are well monitored. The balsam fir Abies balsamea is native to northeastern North America, where it grows both in the lowlands and in the mountains. The evergreen tree belongs to the pine family (Pinaceae) and reaches a growth height of 14 to 20 meters. With a maximum age of 245 years, this genus is relatively short-lived. The suffix "balsamea" refers to the aromatic scent of needles and resin. Native Americans used the resin, needles and bark of the balsam fir for a variety of medicinal uses, such as chewing the resin for colds.
