Finest Origin - Highest Grade

Our elemi oil is produced from the resin of wild trees. The oceanic, tropical climate of this region in the Philippines offers the plants the ideal conditions for their growth and the development of their natural ingredients, such as elemicin, limonene, a- and beta-phellandrene. The fresh resin is harvested, collected and purified by hand in April and May and is processed into the essential oil by gentle steam distillation according to the highest quality standards.

Farm

This essential oil is sourced from a renowned and certified producer based in Valréas in northern Provence, France. The company was founded in 1980 and owns several essential oil farms all over the world. The origin and quality of the plants are well documented, and the company ensures that the highest standards are maintained.

The oils are produced from freshly harvested plant materials via steam distillation. The experienced producers use a very gentle distillation method with low water pressure, which allows for the near complete extraction of the plants' phytochemicals. Their products are certified organic according to French EcoCert standards.

Elemi

Elemi (Canarium luzonicum) is an evergreen tropical rainforest tree from the Burseraceae family, the same family to which frankincense and myrrh belong. Elemi is native to the tropical forests of the Philippines and Moluccas. The tree naturally exudes resins when infested by parasites, but this resin production is also triggered by the "tapping technique" used by local farmers, which involves making incisions in the bark as fresh leaves emerge between January and June. From these incisions flows the white resin, which turns brown upon contact with the air, and is subsequently harvested. A mature tree can produce up to 5kg of elemi per year. The resin is collected, cleaned and processed by our renowned manufacturer into this aromatic essential oil through gentle steam distillation. Since the 16th century, the tree's resin, essential oil and tincture have been used in herbal medicine and pharmacy, often listed in pharmacopoeias under wound-healing salves and balm formulations.

Aroma

The complex fragrance with mild, fresh, lemony and peppery notes harmonises and balances body, mind and soul. Elemi is therefore an excellent oil for meditation, conveying a deep sense of calm, compassion and peace.
