Cypress
The true cypress belongs to the cypress family (Cupressaceae). It is an evergreen conifer that grows to a height of 20 to 30 metres and has an upright to spreading habit. Its leaves are scale-like and its female cones are round to egg-shaped, spiny and brown in colour. It is native to the eastern Mediterranean region and India, but is now also found in France and southern Europe. Cypress essential oil is traditionally used to treat lymphatic and venous disorders and is used in many skin care products.
