Our tangy grapefruit essential oil is derived from the freshly harvested peels of the grapefruit. We use grapefruit which has been organically cultivated by an experienced Sicilian family business since 2002. The intense heat and strong winds prevalent in this Mediterranean climate allow for the optimal development of aromas such as citral, myrcene and alpha-pinene. The fruits are carefully hand-harvested from December to March, sorted, washed and then processed in our own cold-pressing facility.

We source this essential oil from a small, family-run producer based in Sicily. The company was founded in the 1970s and specialises in the cultivation of citrus fruits. They first began cultivation according to organic standards in 2002, but have adapted and expanded their land since then. The mineral-rich soils and the Mediterranean climate, as well as the producer's many years of experience, combine to create high-quality essential oils. The essential oils are extracted via cold pressing in our own facility, and are certified organic.

The grapefruit belongs to the Rutaceae family, and is a citrus hybrid originating from a cross between the orange and the pomelo. The evergreen citrus tree can grow up to 15 metres high, and has fragrant white flowers as well as sturdy green leaves which can grow up to 15 cm long. The fruit probably originated in Barbados and spread via Florida to subtropical countries such as China, Israel and Italy.

The fresh and juicy notes of this grapefruit essential oil are uplifting, and stimulate feelings of hope and emotional growth.
