The cedar trees thrive at an altitude of 500m in the picturesque countryside of Provence, France. The trees are lovingly grown and cared for by an experienced family business, and harvested between the months of November and February. The mineral-rich soils and significant fluctuations between summer and winter temperatures provide optimal growing conditions for the weather-resistant cedars. Following harvesting, the aromatic essential oil is extracted on-site via steam distillation.

The Atlas cedar belongs to the pine family (Pinaceae). It likes to grow in 1000 to 1800m altitudes of the Atlas Mountains of Morocco as well as in North-West Africa. They can grow up to 900 years old and up to 25m high. The bluish needles become 2-2,5cm long and in the age it has formed a black-grey bark. Flowering time is in October and November with male and female inflorescences.
