The camomile (Matricaria chamomilla) is grown organically in the most fertile soils of Bulgaria, the Thracian Valley, also known as the Valley of Roses. The climate in this region is strongly influenced by the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea and the Balkan Mountains (600-3000 metres). Two climate zones meet here: the temperate continental climate and the Mediterranean climate. With more than 200 days of sunshine a year and the influence of the warm winds from the Aegean and the Black Sea, this ideal climatic combination gives the products of the Bulgarian terroir a typical, fine character. This essential oil reflects its origin with its particularly balanced natural ingredients such as chamazulene, cadinene or proazulene, which is very well expressed in its harmonious fragrance properties. Chamomile is harvested during the flowering season in the summer months and gently steam distilled to produce this intense blue essential oil.

We source this essential oil from a producer based in the famous 'Valley of Roses' in Thrace, Bulgaria. The company is dedicated to producing and distilling essential oils of the highest therapeutic quality using only organic and sustainable cultivation and manufacturing methods. The "seed-to-bottle" approach means that the entire production process from field to distillation and packaging is carried out by hand. After harvesting, distilling takes place in the company's own distillation plant, which is constructed from food-grade stainless steel. All oils are labelled with the European organic certificates.

Camomile

The camomile (Matricaria chamomilla) belongs to the aster family (Asteraceae) and is native to southern and eastern Europe, but now thrives on all continents. Camomile is an annual plant that grows as a small bushy shrub up to 30 cm high. The tiny, daisy-like flowers of true chamomile have a collar of white petals arranged around a raised, cone-shaped yellow centre. The flowering herb, known for its therapeutic effects, develops chamazulene through the distillation process from the natural component matricin, which gives the essential oil an intense blue colour. Chamomile has been known for centuries for its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties.
