How are we different?
Our plant-based zinc is extracted from guava leaves and is currently the only 100% natural zinc ingredient from a plant source in the world. The guava leaves (Psidium guajava) are cultivated in India. Thanks to an innovative, gentle form of extraction with water and food-grade ethanol, the zinc can be dissolved from the guava leaves without residue or the use of any conventional solvents, binding agents or carrier substances. In contrast to the usual solvent-based methods, this form of extraction produces a truly natural plant extract in natural purity.
Zinc is organically incorporated in a natural compound in guava leaves and has excellent bioavailability (although the bioavailability of zinc in animal foods is normally higher) due to the phytic acid contained in mineral-rich plants, which has an inhibiting effect on the absorption of minerals. This is broken down and removed during the gentle extraction of the guava leaf, resulting in a 100% plant-based zinc with very high bioavailability.
For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.

Zinc from Guava Leaves
The evergreen guava tree (Psidium guajava) belongs to the myrtle family and is native to South America. In addition to 10% tannins, fresh guava leaves contain numerous antioxidant polyphenols such as β-sitosterol, maslinic acid and guaijavolic acid; they are also rich in B vitamins (B2, B3, B5, B6) and zinc.

Take 1 capsule (200mg zinc) daily with 200ml water before a meal.
Daily Requirements
The official daily requirement (DGE) to prevent deficiency of zinc is 8.3mg for women and 13.6mg for men (NRV: 10mg) on average. There is an increased need for zinc during pregnancy and breastfeeding (11–14mg).
Zinc requirements are influenced by the level of food-based phytin consumed; high levels of phytin reduce the absorption of zinc. Whole grain products, ungerminated or unfermented grains, legumes and primarily plant-based protein sources are particularly rich in phytic acid and increase zinc requirements.
- Requirements for low phytin intake: women 7mg/day; men 11mg/day
- Requirements for moderate phytin intake: women 8mg/day; men 14mg/day
- Requirements for high phytin intake: women 10mg/day; men 16mg/day
