Our winter savory is cultivated according to organic standards in sunny Andalusia, in southern Spain. The vast landscape offers optimal growing conditions for the herbs. The cold nights, very hot, dry days and Mediterranean winds result in high concentrations of valuable components and aromas, including monoterpenes, carvacrol and thymol. The fresh, aromatic plants are harvested from July to September and gently distilled on site.

Farm

The manufacturer of our high-quality essential oil of lemon has been producing essential oils in the Region of Murcia on the Mediterranean coast of Spain since 1970. The essential oils, which are either cold pressed or gently steam distilled in a stainless steel tank, are derived from organic, wildcrafted plants or from the company's own controlled organic cultivation. The farmers and distillers produce their essential oils according to ISO standards, an expertise which is reflected in their harmonious aromas. All of their products are certified organic to EU standards.

Winter savory

The winter savory also called mountain savory, belongs to the Lamiaceae family and grows as a dwarf half-shrub with sessile, linear to lanceolate , grey-green leaves up to 0.5-3 cm long. In summer it flowers white to lavender-pink. It grows very readily in the Mediterranean region, e.g. in Spain, in dry and open places. It is often used as a culinary herb.

Aroma

The scent of mountain savory gives new energy, stimulates the mind and promotes concentration. The high phenolic content of the essential oil has an anti-infection and anti-microbial effect.
