How are we different?
All our vegetarian vitamin D3 capsules contain a high-quality premium vitamin D3 as the active ingredient, custom-made for us without hidden additives, with only MCT oil from coconut and natural vitamin E. The active ingredient stands out for its purity and guaranteed vitamin D3 content. D3 active ingredients very often contain a whole range of additives that are sometimes highly questionable and don't have to be declared, such as synthetic vitamin E, ascorbyl palmitate, silicon dioxide, modified starch, sucrose, denatured vegetable oils and maltodextrin. Owing to the elaborate custom production to our specifications, our vitamin D3 is especially pure. It is made for us by a specialist producer in a time-intensive process.
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin and can only be absorbed by the body together with fats. Our vitamin D3 powder therefore also delivers vitamin D3 in an oil base: the vitamin D3 is first dissolved in MCT oil from coconut and then dried into a fine powder. The powder also contains fat-soluble vitamin E as natural D-alpha-tocopherol. This ensures optimal absorption of vitamin D3 in capsule form too. Both the high-quality medium-chain fatty acids of the MCT oil and vitamin E are valuable nutrients in their own right.
To achieve a perfectly even distribution of vitamin D3 in the active ingredient powder, and therefore exact dosing of the capsules, we use only pure, nanoparticle-free microcrystalline cellulose. The fluctuations in active content between capsules that are often seen therefore do not occur. At the same time, our vitamin D3 powder is rich in high-quality MCT oil from coconut for better absorption of fat-soluble vitamin D3. Natural vitamin E protects the active ingredient from oxidation, ensuring optimal shelf life.
As the only other ingredient, we use premium gum arabic as a pure natural filler. Unlike microcrystalline cellulose, the synthetic filler otherwise commonly used and often containing nanoparticles, this gives us a natural food as a filler.
For the capsule shells, we use special HPMC capsules which, unlike most other HPMC or pullulan capsules on the market, are free from the controversial excipients carrageenan and PEG, which don’t have to be declared. For packaging, we use light-protective amber glass instead of plastic.

Effects
Vitamin D
Vitamin D3 naturally occurs almost exclusively in animal sources, particularly in fish, dairy products, eggs and meat. Plants, such as lichens and various fungi, contain only very small amounts of the much less effective form of vitamin D2.
Vitamin D plays a very important role in the body. It is one of the few vitamins that is not absorbed directly from food, but rather produced by skin cells from sunlight. It is not a vitamin in the traditional sense of the word, but rather a pro-hormone. In contrast to many other vitamins, vitamin D is converted into an important hormone which regulates cell functioning and bodily processes. Almost all bodily cells have special receptors for the vitamin D hormone that are dependent on sufficient supply.
Vitamin D and vitamin K2 are cofactors in the regulation of calcium metabolism. Together, the two vitamins control the formation and breakdown of bone cells and important transport molecules that ensure the correct utilisation of calcium. Our vitamin D3 and K2 MK7 combines the two nutrients in a ratio that ensures optimal synergy.
Vitamin D is still being intensively researched. New mechanisms of action of this fascinating vitamin are discovered almost every year. So far, the following statements on vitamin D have been released by the EU (EFSA):

Directions
Take 1 capsule (5000 IU vitamin D3) every 5 days with 200ml of water with a meal.
Note: Not suitable for children under 7 years of age.
Daily Requirements
The contradictory information surrounding daily requirements for vitamin D intake can be confusing. Daily recommendations vary greatly between different organisations and governing bodies.
For example, the EU recommends a daily intake of 200 IU for adults, while the German Nutrition Society (DGE) recommends 800 IU. However, numerous researchers and nonprofit organisations believe that these recommendations are too low and are not enough to prevent deficiency. An intake of at least 1500–2000 IU or 3000–6000 IU are recommended by the American Endocrine Society and the Vitamin D Council (USA), respectively.
