How are we different?
Natural Vitamin D3
Vitamin D3 naturally occurs almost exclusively in animal sources as the bioactive form of vitamin D. Plants, such as lichens and various fungi, contain only very small amounts of the much less effective form of vitamin D2. Lanolin, the wax found in sheep's wool, is a proven source for obtaining bioactive vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). A multi-stage process, which includes gentle extraction and intensive purification, results in a highly pure crysallised D3 that is used as the active ingredient for our vegetarian Sunferol® D3 formulation.
Absolute Purity: Guaranteed No Additives
Our branded active ingredient, Sunferol® D3, is a bespoke formulation crafted exclusively for Sunday Natural from natural raw materials, with an uncompromising commitment to purity and quality. To ensure optimal dosage and stability, our premium D3 is dissolved in coconut-based MCT oil. Conventional D3 ingredients are often combined with a variety of questionable additives that do not require declaration, such as synthetic vitamin E, ascorbyl palmitate, silicon dioxide, modified starch, sucrose, denatured vegetable oils and maltodextrin. Our active ingredients are produced by a specialised manufacturer using a time-intensive process that adheres strictly to our specifications. We deliberately avoid every common, hidden additive; the inherent purity of the source material allows us to include only a minimal amount of bioactive vitamin E to ensure oxidative stability, maintaining maximum potency and shelf life. To guarantee this standard, our products undergo regular independent laboratory testing for nutrient content, freshness, and potential contaminants such as heavy metals.
MCT Oil Base for Optimal Protection & Enhanced Absorption
Vitamins D and K2 are fat-soluble vitamins that can only be absorbed by the body when combined with fats. For this reason, Sunday Natural's vitamin D3 + K2 uses high-quality MCT oil as a carrier oil. In contrast to other carrier oils (such as olive oil), pure MCT oil offers optimal protection for fat-soluble vitamins, thus ensuring maximum stability of the active ingredients. The medium-chain fatty acids in the carrier oil constitute valuable nutrients themselves. Our oil, which is processed in the Netherlands, is grown without the use of synthetic plant protection products.
In order to achieve an even distribution of vitamin D3 in the powder and thus an exact dosage of the tablets, a carrier must be used. We have opted for 100% nanoparticle-free microcrystalline cellulose; commercially available microcrystalline cellulose may contain up to 10% nanoparticles without requiring declaration.
The only other ingredients are premium gum arabic and the vegan amino acid L-leucine. In contrast to microcrystalline cellulose, a widely used synthetic filler often mixed with nanoparticles, gum arabic is a natural, fibre-rich food. Our fair trade gum arabic is climate neutral and is sustainably cultivated to conserve resources.

Vitamin D plays a very important role in the body. It is one of the few vitamins that is not absorbed directly from food, but rather produced by skin cells from sunlight. It is not a vitamin in the traditional sense of the word, but rather a pro-hormone. In contrast to many other vitamins, vitamin D is converted into an important hormone which regulates cell functioning and bodily processes. Almost all bodily cells have special receptors for the vitamin D hormone that are dependent on sufficient supply.
Vitamin D is still being intensively researched. New mechanisms of action of this fascinating vitamin are discovered almost every year. So far, the following statements on vitamin D have been released by the EU (EFSA):

Vitamin K2 & Vitamin D
Vitamin K2 is the most important cofactor of vitamin D in the regulation of calcium metabolism. Together, the two vitamins control bone-building as well as breaking down cells and important transport molecules that ensure the correct utilisation of calcium.

Take 1 tablet (20,000 IU vitamin D3) every 20 days with 200ml water at mealtimes.

Daily Requirements
The contradictory information surrounding daily requirements for vitamin D intake can be confusing. Daily recommendations vary greatly between different organisations and governing bodies. For example, the EU recommends a daily intake of 200 IU for adults, while the German Nutrition Society (DGE) recommends 800 IU.
However, numerous researchers and nonprofit organisations believe that these recommendations are too low and are not enough to prevent deficiency. An intake of at least 1500–2000 IU or 3000–6000 IU are recommended by the American Endocrine Society and the Vitamin D Council (USA), respectively.
