How are we different?
Not all forms of vitamin B12 and folic acid are equally effective. Conventional supplements often contain only synthetic forms that the body must first convert. Sunday Natural Vitamin B12 MH3A® Plus Folate provides both vitamins directly in their bioactive, natural forms.
Conventional combinations of B12 and folic acid usually contain only one active ingredient per vitamin. However, both occur in various active forms with different modes of action in the body and in natural foods. The combination of our high-quality vitamin B12 active ingredient complex, including cofactors, with bioactive folate ensures ideal absorption of both vitamins.
Our vitamin B12 MH3A® formula provides vitamin B12 as it occurs in nature: as a synergistic mixture of all three bioactive forms (methyl-, hydroxo- and adenosylcobalamin). Since each form has different effects and performs different functions in the body, our formula contains all three forms in a balanced ratio of five B12 active ingredients – in contrast to conventional preparations, which usually only offer a single active ingredient.
We use pure L-methylfolate as a source of folate, with a guaranteed purity of 99.9% of the bioactive form. This raw material is bound to purely vegan glucosamine from fermentation to stabilise it and ensure optimal shelf life and effectiveness. Due to its outstanding bioavailability, it can be used directly by the body and is one of the highest quality and most effective forms of folate. Unlike conventional forms of methylfolate, which can contain up to 50% of the ineffective variant (R-methylfolate) due to production, our premium folate is free of such inactive compounds.
The only other ingredients we use are premium gum arabic (Latin name "acacia gum") as a pure natural bulking agent and the vegan amino acid L-leucine. Unlike the usual synthetic bulking agent microcrystalline cellulose, which is often mixed with nanoparticles, we use natural, fibre-rich ingredients.
Allowing the tablets to dissolve in the mouth offers the advantage of direct absorption through the oral mucosa (passive diffusion). The vitamins enter the bloodstream directly, bypassing the liver and remain highly bioavailable even in cases of impaired intestinal absorption.
Effects
Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin)
Vitamin B12 fulfils a number of important functions in the body: it can help to reduce tiredness and fatigue and maintain a normal energy metabolism; it contributes to the normal functioning of the psyche, immune and nervous systems; supports the formation of red blood cells; and is beneficial for normal homocysteine metabolism. The body also needs vitamin B12 for cell division.
Vitamin B12 acts as a so-called coenzyme in the body, meaning it is necessary for certain enzymes to fulfil their tasks. The associated reactions are directly dependent on vitamin B12 and cannot take place without it.
Vitamin B12 MH3A® Formula
Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) exists in various chemical forms, each of which performs different tasks in the body. The natural and directly effective forms of vitamin B12 in the body are called bioactive coenzymes. Synthetic vitamin B12 compounds, such as the commonly used cyanocobalamin, do not have direct vitamin activity and must first be converted by the body into a usable form.
The biologically active coenzyme forms of vitamin B12 in the body are called methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin. Both act in different places and in completely different reactions, which is why humans need both forms of vitamin B12 and can also convert them into each other. Methylcobalamin acts in the cell plasma as part of the methylation cycle, which has a far-reaching influence on various areas of health such as blood formation, the psyche and the nervous system. Adenosylcobalamin, on the other hand, acts in the mitochondria, the energy power plants of our cells. There it is part of the citric acid cycle, the central metabolic cycle for energy production. Hydroxocobalamin is another natural form of vitamin B12 found in many foods. Large portions of vitamin B12 in the blood are present as hydroxocobalamin. Hydroxocobalamin binds particularly well to vitamin B12 transport molecules and is therefore excreted less quickly; it is therefore considered to have the best sustained-release properties. Hydroxocobalamin can be easily converted by the body into the active coenzyme forms as needed.
Vitamin B9: Folate (Folic Acid)
Folate, also known as vitamin B9, is involved in a variety of important bodily functions. It contributes to normal energy metabolism, reduces fatigue and supports the immune system and mental functions. It is needed for blood formation, cell division, homocysteine metabolism and the formation of amino acids. Folate also plays a role in the growth of maternal tissue during pregnancy.
Synthetic folic acid must first be converted into active folate in the body before it can take effect. This conversion is not always possible without problems, as it requires additional cofactors and enzymes and is significantly restricted in many people for genetic reasons. The optimal, biologically active form of folate is called L-methylfolate (more precisely L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate or L-5-MTHF). L-methylfolate is a methyl donor and part of the methylation cycle.
The patented premium active ingredient Quatrefolic® provides 99.9% pure L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate.

Dosage
Directions
Take 1 tablet (500µg B12 + 200µg folate) daily. Allow to dissolve in the mouth or swallow with plenty of water.
Note: Made with natural gum arabic, these natural tablets dissolve very slowly in the mouth. It is recommended to keep the tablets in contact with the oral mucosa for as long as possible before swallowing. If needed, the tablets can either be chewed or swallowed with plenty of water.
Daily Requirements
The German Nutrition Society (DGE) recommends a daily intake of at least 3µg vitamin B12 for adults.
The official daily requirement for folic acid for adults is 200µg, according to European authorities, while the DGE recommends an average of 300µg for adults, the DGE recognises an increased requirement for pregnant (550µg) and breastfeeding (450µg) individuals.
Vitamin B12 Absorption
The human body can only absorb a portion of the vitamin B12 found in food and supplements: only about 1–2µg of vitamin B12 can be absorbed at a time via the intrinsic factor, a special protein, with a further 1% absorbed via passive diffusion through the intestine. Calculating total B12 absorption therefore requires taking both of these factors into account. Note: By distributing intake of B12 throughout the day, absorption via the intrinsic factor can be maximised.
According to this formula, Sunday Natural Vitamin B12 MH3A® + Folate results in a calculated absorption of 5–6µg vitamin B12 per tablet.
Food Supplement
Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced, varied diet and healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of young children.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.

Cofactors
All eight essential B vitamins work very closely together in numerous metabolic processes in the body. In many cases it therefore makes sense to take the vitamins together.
Laboratory Tests
The purity of our formulas is important to us. This is why we have both our raw ingredients as well as our finished products extensively tested by independent laboratories to confirm purity and active ingredient content. Here, we have provided the results of some of the tests carried out on this product.
