Under the influence of the North Indian climate, the plant develops an exceptional biochemical profile: with a high content of khusimol, rulepidadiene B and beta-vetivones, harmoniously rounded off by the unusually high content of velvety nerolidol, the oil unfolds its characteristic, deep-earthy and noble-woody aroma with surprisingly soft, balsamic nuances. At the optimal harvest time, the roots are processed into this soothing, deeply grounding essential oil by gentle steam distillation.

<em>Vetivera zizanioides</em>
Vetiver (Vetivera zizanioides) belongs to the grass family (Poaceae) and grows endemically in India, where it is cultivated in tropical regions. In terms of growth and appearance, the plant resembles lemongrass, citronella or palmarosa. It can grow up to 2m high and has strong leaves. The roots grow up to 3m deep, stabilising the soil.
In Indonesia, the aromatic roots are traditionally woven into mats that are used as window coverings to keep insects away and to cover and cool huts. Ayurvedic medicine uses vetiver root as a tonic that relaxes and cleanses the mind, blood and skin. Due to its cooling properties, it is also used for heat stroke, fever and headaches.
