Valerian Extract Capsules

How are we different?

Our valerian root extract comes from the hand-harvested roots of valerian plants that are at least 2 years old. Found in their natural habitat in the temperate Himalayas 1000-3000m above sea level, the plants are harvested with water-saving methods. After harvesting, the finely chopped root pieces undergo food-grade water-ethanol extraction; the resulting extract is gently spray dried.

The only other ingredient is premium gum arabic, cultivated without the use of plant protection products. In contrast to microcrystalline cellulose, a widely used synthetic filler often mixed with nanoparticles, gum arabic is a natural, fibre-rich food. Our fair trade gum arabic is climate neutral and is sustainably cultivated to conserve resources.

For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.

Valerian

Valerian is a genus in the honeysuckle family, which contains upwards of 300 species. All species of valerian contain alkaloids and, most importantly, essential oils (monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes) that are responsible for the characteristic odour of the leaves, flowers and roots. Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) has long been traditionally used in folk medicine and was highly valued by Paracelsus.

Dosage

Directions

Take 1 capsule daily with 200ml water 30 - 60 minutes before going to sleep.

Contraindications

Not suitable during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
