How are we different?

Our specially sprouted buckwheat germ contains highly concentrated B vitamins. Vitamin-enriched water is used to initiate the germination process, which allows the B vitamins from the water to diffuse directly into the cell nucleus of the dry buckwheat grain. In this way, B vitamins are incorporated completely naturally into the buckwheat seedling and become optimally bioavailable while enabling a unique synergistic effect to occur between them.

Although standard practice to supply vitamin B12 in an isolated, synthetic context, our pioneering MH3A® formula offers the vitamin in the same way as it occurs in food: as a mixture of all three natural and bioactive forms, which allows the natural synergistic effects between them to occur (they each fulfil completely different tasks in the body and have different focal points of action). Our MH3A® formula contains these three forms of vitamin B12 in an equal ratio, spread across a total of five active forms of B12. This formula thus provides a foundational supply of vitamin B12 as found in nature, where all three forms are always found in a harmonious combination, both in our bodies and in the foods we eat. In contrast, the majority of products available on the market contain only one of the three B12 active ingredients: either methylcobalamin, hydroxocobalamin or adenosylcobalamin.

For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.

B Vitamins

The B vitamin group includes eight water-soluble essential nutrients: vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, biotin and folic acid. Unlike many vitamins, B vitamins cannot be stored in the body over a long period of time and must therefore be obtained daily through food. The only exception is vitamin B12, which can be stored in the liver.

It is crucial to ensure a balanced intake of all B vitamins due to their interdependent effects, but this is sometimes difficult to achieve due to their wide distribution across all food groups; only a very balanced diet can provide all B vitamins in sufficient quantities. Indeed, large nutrition studies consistently reveal clear gaps in their supply.

Natural B Complex from Sprouted Buckwheat with Vitamin B12 (MH3A® Formula)

The special sprouting process enriches our buckwheat germ with valuable B vitamins, resulting in a natural combination of optimally bioavailable vitamins with a unique synergy.

  • Thiamine (B1) is involved in energy production as well as the normal functioning of the nervous system and brain.
  • Riboflavin (B2) plays a role in energy production, the reduction of fatigue and in maintaining healthy skin and mucous membranes as well as in the protection of cells and DNA against oxidative stress.
  • Nicotinamide (B3) contributes to the regulation of energy and fatigue and is needed for the function of the nervous system, brain, skin and mucous membranes as well as being involved in serotonin and melatonin synthesis.
  • Pantothenic acid (B5) plays a role in energy production in the mitochondria and is required for the synthesis of protein, cholesterol, steroid hormones and neurotransmitters as well as for the metabolism of vitamins A and D.
  • Pyridoxine (B6) contributes to erythropoiesis and supports energy metabolism, hormone activity and the immune and nervous systems as well as playing a crucial role in amino acid metabolism.
  • Folic acid (B9) plays a role in cell division, blood formation and amino acid and homocysteine metabolism as well as being essential for healthy pregnancies.
  • Vitamin B12 (cobalamin) is required for erythropoiesis and for building DNA and proteins.

Health Benefits of B Vitamins

According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), B vitamins contribute to:

  • Maintaining normal skin and mucous membranes
  • Maintaining normal hair
  • Maintaining normal cognitive function
  • Normal macronutrient metabolism
  • Normal energy metabolism
  • Normal functioning of the nervous system
  • Normal heart function
  • Maintaining normal iron metabolism
  • Maintaining normal red blood cells
  • Protecting DNA, proteins and lipids from oxidative stress
  • Cell division
  • Maintaining normal cysteine synthesis
  • Maintaining normal amino acid synthesis

Recommended Dosage

Take 1–2 capsules daily (500mg buckwheat germ powder + 250µg vitamin B12 MH3A® formula per capsule) with 200ml water.

Daily Requirements

The official daily requirement (NRV) for each B vitamin can be found below:

  • 1.1mg vitamin B1
  • 1.4mg vitamin B2
  • 16mg vitamin B3
  • 6mg vitamin B5
  • 1.4mg vitamin B6
  • 50µg biotin
  • 200µg folate
  • 2.5µg vitamin B12

Daily Cofactor Requirements

There are no official requirements for choline, inositol or betaine. All three can be synthesised in the body, so many people cover their daily needs endogenously. The following recommendations for dietary supplementation are stated in the literature:

  • Choline: 400mg (EFSA)/550mg (DGK)
  • Inositol: 2,000mg
  • Betaine/TMG: 500mg–2,000mg

Food Supplement

Do not exceed the recommended dose. Food supplements cannot replace a balanced and varied diet. Keep out of reach of children.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.

In addition to the eight essential B vitamins, there are vitamin-like nutrients that work closely with the B vitamins and were therefore, until recently, also counted among the B vitamin group. These cofactors can be produced by the body, but not in sufficient quantities. Particularly when taking high doses of B vitamins, it is important to ensure a parallel supply of these compounds to avoid imbalances:

  • Choline (formerly vitamin B4) is part of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, one of the most important neurotransmitters in humans, and supports fat and homocysteine metabolism as well as normal liver function.
  • Betaine (as trimethylglycine/TMG) is another activated form of choline that plays an important role in the methylation cycle and homocysteine metabolism.
  • Inositol (formerly vitamin B8) contributes to cell metabolism as a secondary messenger; it is also part of the cell membrane and a precursor of various chemical messengers.
  • PABA (formerly vitamin B10) is a building block of folic acid and is involved in processes such as the utilisation of protein and the formation of red blood cells.
