Origin: Iran, a rare treasure from 1001 Nights, deep from the rock of Persian salt domes.
Grain Size: Coarse granulate (2-5mm) – perfect for the mill to make the blue inclusions visible.
Appearance: Magical and fascinating. A brilliant white crystal salt, interspersed with intense, sapphire blue speckles. This rare effect is not due to colour, but by a geological shift in the crystal lattice.
Production: This salt is not mined on a large scale. The blue vein is often only 30-80cm thin and runs through huge salt domes. It is painstakingly mined and carefully hand-sorted.
Distinctions: One of the rarest salts in the world. The annual production is extremely low at only 90-120 tonnes. Its uniqueness also lies in the high potassium content, which provides an exceptionally unique flavour experience.
Composition: 100% pure, genuine rock salt. Naturally contains potassium. Non-iodised and free from any additives.
Packaging: We use environmentally friendly clear glass instead of plastic.
Character: Intensely salty at the start, followed by a fine, almost tingling sensation on the tongue (due to the potassium content). It is mineral-rich, spicy and leaves an astonishingly mild, clean finish.
Pairings: A luxurious finishing salt that shines exceptionally in a transparent mill. It refines light dishes such as seafood (scallops, scampi), fish, carpaccio as well as fresh salads and raw vegetables.
