Finest Origin - Highest Grade

This Szechuan pepper oil is derived from wildcrafted plants, growing at 1,200 - 1,600m elevation in the Himalayas in western Nepal. The tropical climate of this pepper's endemic environment provides the ideal conditions for the plant to develop its complex and harmonious aromas, which comes from compounds such as methyl cinnamate, pinenes and trans-caryophyllenes. The pepper berries are gently harvested by hand in November and December and distilled with steam in the local distillery. This level of care and experience is reflected in this particularly aromatic essential oil.

Farm

This family-run company was founded around 2010 in Nepal. The cooperating farms and farmers are regularly trained in controlled organic cultivation and new farms are recruited. The range of essential oils consists either of plants that are cultivated organically or from wild collections in the mountains of Nepal. The joy and passion of growing and harvesting indigenous aromatic plants and processing them in their own distilleries across the country can be perceived in the fine aromas of these oils. Most products are certified with the EU organic seal.

Szechuan Pepper

Nepalese Szechuan pepper or Timur berry (Zanthoxylum armatum DC) is a thorny shrub or small tree that belongs to the diverse citrus family (Rutaceae). This plant reaches a growth height of up to 6 metres and commonly grows in hot valleys and at altitudes of 1000 - 2500m in the Himalayas across Buthan, Nepal, India and Pakistan. The plant flowers between April and May. The flowers develop purple-red berries, which then wither into black pepper berries. The essential oil is much sought after by the perfume industry because of its exquisite fragrance. The aromatic and medicinal properties of the plant have made it one of the most popular and important medicinal plants in Ayurveda and particularly in Nepal.

Aroma

The aromatic, warm and spicy fragrance has calming and balancing properties on both body and mind. It imparts a sense of calm, balance and strength.
