Our high-quality essential oil comes from a small, family-run business in the heart of Calabria, Italy, which has been cultivating, tending, harvesting and processing citrus fruits since around 1950. The fresh citrus fruits, grown on-site as well as sourced from local cooperative partners, are harvested and processed between October and January to produce the essential oils. These 100% pure, natural essential oils are gently obtained via cold-pressing in the farm's own production facility. In addition, the company distills premium petitgrain essential oils from the leaves and twigs during the annual pruning of the citrus trees. Many of this producer's oils are also certified organic under the EU organic seal.
Mandarin
The mandarin (Citrus reticulata) belongs to the rue family (Rutaceae). Indigenous to China, the mandarin now finds ideal growing conditions when cultivated across the Mediterranean region. It thrives as a small tree with a rounded crown. In spring, its fragrant white flowers bloom, producing round orange fruits from autumn through spring. The plant's aromatic essential oils are located within the fruit peels, while the fresh twigs, complete with leaves and small budding fruits, are used to produce petitgrain oil.
