MCT, or medium-chain triglycerides, are saturated fatty acids. MCT oils, unlike longer chain fatty acids, are water-soluble.
These properties make MCT oil an excellent source of energy. It is particularly beneficial to the brain, which requires a sufficient supply of fatty acids in order to function properly.
Caprylic Acid (C8) and Capric Acid (C10)
The individual MCTs are often referred to by the length of their carbon chains as C6-C12. The two most biologically effective MCTs are caprylic acid (C8), which has 8 carbon atoms, and capric acid (C10), which has 10 carbon atoms. Our organic MCT oil consists of 60% caprylic acid (C8) and 40% capric acid (C10), making it a particularly effective blend of the two most significant MCT fatty acids.
