How are we different?
For hundreds of years, mushroom cultivators in China have been producing some of the most potent functional mushrooms worldwide. Traditional Chinese medicine has guided this development for over 2000 years, with techniques being refined to such an extent that cultivated mushrooms are now extremely similar to their wildcrafted predecessors. Our Agaricus blazei mushrooms are sourced directly from the globally-recognised mushroom-growing region of Gutian County in Fujian. Our farming partner places a high value on natural, traditional cultivation methods which do not include the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. The mushrooms are selectively harvested by hand between July and October, at their peak nutritional value.
Mushrooms are composed of the fruiting body, which typically appears above ground, and the mycelium underneath. The most important compounds in functional mushrooms are concentrated within the fruiting body, but due to mycelia being faster and easier to cultivate, products derived from the mycelium are common despite being of lesser value. Our mushroom powders and extracts are exclusively made from the entire fruiting body (including the stalk), preserving the valuable compounds in each mushroom.
Among the most valuable components of the vital mushrooms are the mushroom polysaccharides, especially the beta-1,3- and beta-1,6-D-glucans. Our mushroom extracts bundle these substances into a rich concentrate. They are extracted with the traditional method using only water, the purest and gentlest extraction process. As a result, they do not contain any residues of chemical solvents (such as acetone, N-hexane, methanol).
In contrast to extracts, which can lose some of their nutritional value during processing, powders contain the full spectrum of nutrients and enzymes for a particularly strong adaptogenic effect. To ensure that the nutrients of the mushroom are optimally available to the body, we finely mill the dried mushrooms to a size of less than 0.1mm, according to the "shell-broken" method. This milling process breaks open the difficult-to-digest cells of the mushroom and makes their contents directly bioavailable.
The combination of mushroom powder and extract creates a rich overall combination of the full spectrum of all nutrients, with a high concentration of the valuable beta-glucans.

Agaricus Blazei Murrill (ABM, sun mushroom, almond mushroom)
In many respects, the Agaricus blazei Murrill has a special position among the functional mushrooms. It is one of the few edible and functional mushrooms that originally come from South America - more precisely from the Brazilian rainforest. There, it is also called "Cogumelo de Deus" (God's mushroom) because of the strengths attributed to it. The ABM was incorporated into Asian mushroom science and therefore comes mainly from Asia today. Agaricus does not grow on old wood like many of its congeners, but requires special fermented soils, which makes cultivation very demanding. ABM is also as the "mushroom of the sun" because it grows and flourishes in direct sunlight, unlike most other mushrooms.

Our functional mushrooms are sourced from the renowned mushroom-growing region of Gutian County (600-700m above sea level), in Fujian, China. The cultivation of mushrooms is an age-old tradition in the region, as is reflected by the unparalleled quality of these mushrooms. The fertile land, sophisticated substrates, as well as the climate, all contribute to a uniquely nutritious end product. Moreover, these pristine lands are protected by dense mountain forests, thus providing an ideal environment for the mushrooms to thrive. Our untreated mushrooms are certified organically grown according to EU standards. They are grown to full maturity and hand-picked at the peak of their vitality, between July and October.
The mushrooms retain their raw quality as a result of gentle drying at temperatures below 40°C. This process preserves the delicate enzymes and potent vital substances of the mushrooms. To ensure that these valuable nutrients are bioavailable, the dried mushrooms are then gently milled. Thanks to our use of the "shell-broken" method, the powder attains a fineness of less than 0.125mm, which ensures that the compounds within the cells as well as within the chitin skeleton of the mushroom are optimally available for absorption. The powder contains the full richness of enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and trace elements of the whole fruiting body of the mushroom.
The most important nutrients within the ABM are the mushroom polysaccharides, especially beta-1,3-glucan and beta-1,6-glucan. Our mushroom extracts consolidate these compounds into a highly effective concentrate. The extract is produced according to a traditional method using only water and food-grade ethanol.
