The quality of different OPC products on the market can vary greatly. Although polyphenols comprise a large number of active plant ingredients, of which OPC is just one, some manufacturers report the polyphenol content rather than the OPC content, which can be misleading. Common laboratory tests such as the DMAC or vanillin test can also yield misleading or inflated OPC values of up to 400% of the actual OPC content. Our OPC 40 French grape seed extract has a laboratory-tested polyphenol content of over 95% and an OPC content of over 40%. Especially important to note when considering OPC products is the content of the particularly bioactive di- to pentamers, which should ideally be between 10-20%.
For our grape seed extract, we exclusively use the OPC-rich seeds of white Chardonnay grapes (Vinis vinifera) that have been harvested and processed in France by a trusted manufacturer with over 20 years of experience. The region of Champagne grows grape seeds that are rich in OPC, which results in a high extraction rate of 1kg extract per 31kg grape seeds. Many producers use French grapes, but the extraction process often takes place in China.
Many producers process their extracts with cost-saving chemical solvents that leave behind residues which can be detrimental to health and the environment. However, our grape seed extract is produced using gentle and environmentally friendly methods. Our ultra pure extract is derived through a cold-press extraction method using only water and edible ethanol (70% water, 30% ethanol). Our final product is therefore guaranteed free from toxic extraction residues such as methanol, acetone, n-hexane, and ethanol.
For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass.
We use environmentally friendly amber glass bottles for the packaging of this product.
