Our deliciously crunchy and full-bodied handmade hemp potato chips are an ideal power snack for between meals and on the go, especially for athletes. Thanks to their high protein content, hemp potato chips are also particularly suitable as part of a low-carbohydrate diet.

The hemp flour for our hemp potato chips consists of a mixture of the Finola and Tygra seed varieties, which are grown pesticide-free in the EU (Czech Republic). Pure industrial hemp is used for the production of hemp flour.

Hemp Chips

Hemp (Cannabis) belongs to the mulberry family; the genus includes a large number of wild and feral forms. Hemp is an annual, dioecious plant, meaning the plants have either female and male flowers.

As a raw material plant, hemp has played an important role various civilisations for centuries. As early as 12,000 years ago, hemp was cultivated as a grain in Persia and China. Hemp seeds contain proteins, fats, carbohydrates and a high proportion of natural fibre and valuable phytochemicals.

Cultivation & Processing

Hemp seeds are a valuable foodstuff. The hemp flour for our hemp potato chips is made from a mixture of industrial Finola and Tygra seeds, which are grown pesticide-free in the EU (Czech Republic).

Hemp is relatively low maintenance and highly adaptable when it comes to climatic growing conditions. After about 100 days of growing, the hemp is ready for harvest: the plants are either cut off above the ground or pulled out by the root. After harvesting, the seeds - which contain plenty of fats and proteins - are gently cleaned and dried. Hemp seed oil is typically first extracted from the seeds by pressing. The seed cake (residue from the oil pressing) can then be used to produce hemp seed flour. The seeds can also be ground directly into a fine and typically aromatic flour.
