How are we different?
Each of our gummies contains 1mg melatonin. They are made on the basis of valuable fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS), which are obtained from the natural inulin of the chicory root. Fructo-oligosaccharides, or FOS for short, belong to the group of dietary fibres. They are characterised by their mild sweetness and are associated with a range of positive properties. Among other things, they serve as a high-quality food source for lacto- and bifidobacteria in the intestine and have a comparatively low glycaemic index, which is beneficial for blood sugar stability. Typically, the production of vitamin gummies involves the use of artificial sweeteners or sugar substitutes. Our gummies are made entirely without artificial sweeteners and without the addition of sugar.
The production of gummies requires gelling agents to ensure sufficient firmness and glazing agents to prevent the gummies from sticking together. We use plant-based gelling agents and completely avoid animal gelatine, which is often obtained from inferior slaughterhouse waste. The gelling and stabilising agents we use are obtained from lemon peel (pectin), red algae (agar-agar) and the root tubers of the cassava plant (tapioca starch). We use carnauba wax as a coating agent, making our gummies completely vegan. Citric acid is often used as an acidity regulator, which is usually obtained with the help of moulds and genetically modified microorganisms; the use of phosphate compounds such as tricalcium phosphate is also common. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and citrate compounds (such as sodium citrate) are better alternatives for these ingredients, which are used in our vitamin gummies.
Our melatonin gummies have a pleasantly sweet and refreshing lemon balm flavour. In addition, the gummies are gluten- and soya-free.
We use environmentally friendly amber glass jars for the packaging of this product.

Melatonin
Melatonin is an endogenous hormone that is produced from the amino acid L-tryptophan via the intermediate 5-HTP in the pineal gland and, to a lesser extent, in the retina and intestines. Melatonin production and release is light-dependent, with darkness stimulating melatonin production and release, while daylight and blue screen light inhibit it. During the day, melatonin levels are around 3-12 times lower than at night. The release of melatonin initiates the regeneration phase and falling asleep and is responsible for the deep sleep phase. With advancing age, the body's own melatonin production decreases.
