How are we different?
Our kids' gummies each provide 2mg iron + 25mg vitamin C and have a sweet, fruity grape flavour. They are made with a base of valuable fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS), which are obtained from the natural inulin of the chicory root. Fructo-oligosaccharides, or FOS for short, belong to the group of dietary fibres. Since our gummies contain FOS instead of sugar, they cause a lower spike in blood sugar levels compared to conventionally sweetened gummies. Unlike many gummies, our formula contains no artificial sweeteners and no added sugar.
The production of gummies requires gelling agents to ensure sufficient firmness and glazing agents to prevent the gummies from sticking together. We use completely plant-based gelling agents and avoid animal gelatine, which is often obtained from low-quality slaughterhouse waste. The gelling and stabilising agents we use are obtained from lemon peel (pectin), red algae (agar) and the root tubers of the cassava plant (tapioca starch). We use plant-based carnauba wax as a glazing agent, making our vitamin gummies 100% vegan. For acidity regulation, cheap citric acid is often used, as well as controversial phosphate compounds such as tricalcium phosphate. Malic acid and citrate compounds such as sodium citrate are better alternatives, which are used in our gummies.
