How are we different?
Not all forms of vitamin B12 are equally effective. Conventional food supplements often only contain synthetic forms of vitamin B12. These must first be converted into the biologically active forms in the body before they can be utilised. Sunday Natural Vitamin B12 MH3A® provides the full spectrum of bioactive and natural forms of vitamin B12.
Conventional vitamin B12 supplements usually only provide one active ingredient. However, different active forms are found in our bodies and in natural foods. All forms have a different effect and sometimes enter the body via different metabolic pathways, meaning that the B12 form that is best absorbed varies from person to person.
In contrast to many conventional B12 preparations, the vitamin B12-MH3A® formula that we introduced for the first time as a B12 pioneer supplies vitamin B12 as it occurs in natural foods: as a mixture of all three natural and bioactive forms of vitamin B12 in an optimal synergy. This is because all three forms fulfil completely different tasks in the body and have different focal points of action. Our MH3A® formula contains all three forms of vitamin B12 in an equal, balanced ratio of five B12 active ingredients and thus provides the ideal foundational supply - because in nature, all three forms are always found together both in our bodies and in food. The majority of formulas on the market contain only one of three vitamin B12 active ingredients (methylcobalamine, hydroxocobalamin or adenosylcobalamin).
The absorption of vitamin B12 via the "intrinsic factor" transport molecule is a calcium-dependent process since calcium plays the role of a necessary cofactor. Our Vitamin B12 + Calcium therefore supports the absorption of vitamin B12 in the intestines, optimising its bioavailability.
For the capsule shells we use custom-made HPMC capsules that, unlike most other HPMC and pullulan capsules on the market, are 100% free from controversial additives such as carrageenans and PEG. We then package this product in environmentally friendly amber glass jars.

Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin)
Vitamin B12 fulfils a number of important functions in the body: it can help to reduce tiredness and fatigue and maintain a normal energy metabolism; it contributes to the normal functioning of the psyche, immune and nervous systems; supports the formation of red blood cells; and is beneficial for normal homocysteine metabolism. The body also needs vitamin B12 for cell division.
Vitamin B12 acts as a so-called coenzyme in the body, meaning it is necessary for certain enzymes to fulfil their tasks. The associated reactions are directly dependent on vitamin B12 and cannot take place without it.
Vitamin B12 MH3A® Formula
Vitamin B12 exists in different chemical forms, each with different functions within the body. The natural forms of vitamin B12 that can be readily absorbed by the body are described as "bioactive coenzymes." Synthetic forms of vitamin B12 such as cyanocobalamin must be first coverted into a natural form by the body in order to be effective, which is why we use naturally bioactive vitamin B12.
The biologically active coenzyme forms of vitamin B12 in the body are called methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin. Both act at different places and in completely different reactions, which is why humans need both forms of vitamin B12 and can also convert them into each other. Methylcobalamin is active in the cytoplasm as a part of the methylation cycle, which has a broad impact on various aspects of our health such as blood formation, brain health, and the nervous system. Adenosylcobalamin, on the other hand, is active within the mitochondria – the "powerhouses" of cells – where it is part of the citric acid cycle, considered the main metabolic cycle for energy production.
Hydroxocobalamin is another natural form of vitamin B12 that can be found in many food products. Most of the vitamin B12 in the blood is in the form of hydroxocobalamin. Hydroxocobalamin binds particularly well to vitamin B12 transport molecules and is therefore excreted less quickly; as a result, it is considered the B12 with the best repository properties. Hydroxocobalamin can be easily converted by the body into the active coenzyme forms as needed.
According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA):
Vitamin B12 contributes to:
- normal energy metabolism
- normal functioning of the nervous system
- normal homocysteine metabolism
- normal mental function
- normal formation of red blood cells
- normal function of the immune system
- reduction of tiredness and fatigue
- cell division
According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA):
Calcium contributes to:
- normal blood clotting
- normal energy metabolism
- normal muscle function
- normal signal transmission between nerve cells
- normal function of digestive enzymes
- cell division and specialisation
- the maintenance of normal bones
- the maintenance of normal teeth
Dosage
Dosage
Directions
Take 1–2 capsules with 200ml water daily 30 minutes before a meal.
Daily Requirements
The German Nutrition Society (DGE) recommends a minimum intake of 4µg vitamin B12 per day for adults.
B12 Intake
The human body can only absorb a portion of the vitamin B12 found in food and supplements: only about 1–2µg of vitamin B12 can be absorbed at a time via the intrinsic factor, a special protein, with a further 1% absorbed via passive diffusion through the intestine. Calculating total B12 absorption therefore requires taking both of these factors into account. Note: By distributing intake of B12 throughout the day, absorption via the intrinsic factor can be maximised.
According to this formula, our Vitamin B12 + Calcium MH3A® 500µg corresponds to an intake of 6–7µg per capsule.
Food Supplement
Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced, varied diet and healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of young children.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.

All eight essential B vitamins work very closely together in numerous metabolic processes in the body. In many cases it therefore makes sense to take the vitamins together.
