Our Iron Complex Ultra 45mg is based on the combination of pure plant-based iron with particularly bioavailable, organic iron compounds and therefore has a very wide range of iron sources for optimum iron absorption and utilisation. This complex is supplemented by vitamin A as vegan retinyl palmitate, as well as buffered vitamin C as calcium carbonate for improved iron absorption, copper as copper lysinate for functioning iron transport in the body and synergistic, bioactive B-vitamin forms to support haematopoiesis. Valuable amino acids and the whey protein lactoferrin provide a special bonus.
Plant-based iron from curry leaves and buckwheat
The curry leaves come exclusively from natural cultivation without the use of pesticides. The organic iron from curry leaves is obtained via particularly gentle water extraction, completely without the use of other solvents such as N-hexane, methanol or acetone and is therefore free from residues. Ongoing laboratory tests by the manufacturer also guarantee an iron content of at least 3% and the absence of heavy metals and pesticides. We use buckwheat sprouted with trace elements as a further source of iron. During the germination process, the iron is incorporated into the natural cell matrix of the buckwheat. The buckwheat germ powder obtained in this way contains organic iron with very good bioavailability.
Organic forms of iron bisglycinate, lactate and gluconate
According to the current state of research, iron bisglycinate is the iron compound with the highest bioavailability. Iron is bound as a chelate to the amino acid L-glycine and can be absorbed particularly well by the body in this form. Although glycine occurs naturally in nuts, soy beans or lentils, it cannot be isolated from them in large quantities, which is why we have opted for glycine or iron bisglycinate as a pure substance. As such, it is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Iron lactate is also a bioavailable chelate in which iron is bound to the salt of lactic acid (lactate). Contrary to what the name suggests, iron lactate is not obtained from milk and is therefore purely vegan. The iron compound is often used as a food additive (e.g., for colouring black olives) and is often found in baby food. The ferrous lactate for our Iron Complex Ultra 45mg has a particularly high purity of at least 96%.
Ferrous gluconate is an organic form of iron in which iron is bound to the salt of naturally occurring gluconic acid. We use this iron compound as a pure substance with a purity of at least 98%.
Vitamin C, B-complex, copper and vitamin A as cofactors
To improve iron absorption, iron transport and haematopoiesis, our iron complex contains buffered vitamin C as calcium ascorbate, particularly pure copper lysinate (98% purity) and a B complex with bioactive vitamin forms. These include vitamin B12 as the patented MH3A® formula and folic acid as Magnafolate® Pro. Vitamin A is contained as vegan retinyl palmitate. Plant-based food sources do not contain any directly bioactive vitamin A, but only the precursor beta-carotene, which must first be converted to vitamin A by the body. In many people, this conversion is very inefficient, which can lead to a vitamin A deficiency. Our retinyl palmitate can be converted to directly bioactive vitamin A by everybody without any problems.
Lactoferrin
As a special bonus, our Iron Complex Ultra 45mg is supplemented with the biologically active whey protein lactoferrin. We only use high-quality, particularly pure lactoferrin (at least 95% pure), which is obtained by means of ion exchange, ultrafiltration and subsequent gentle freeze-drying. The milk used for our whey protein comes from sustainable sources (in Australia) with high animal welfare standards. Our partner has its own animal welfare policy and a comprehensive programme for animal welfare and protection. The focus here is on both the physical and mental welfare of the animals. This includes ensuring that the dairy cows can be out on pasture at least 350 days a year. Although lactoferrin is obtained from cow's milk, our end product is lactose-free (<0.1% lactose) due to the efficient purification process, so that those with lactose intolerance can also consume it.
We use patented, stomach acid-resistant HPMC capsules (DR® Caps) as capsule shells. We use light-protected and environmentally friendly amber glass instead of plastic for the packaging.
