How are we different?

Our High-Polyphenol Olive & Omega-3 Oil is a balanced, synergistic blend of three valuable botanical oils: premium organic extra virgin olive oil from Italy, pure and mild algae oil with an exceptionally high DHA content, and cold-pressed, ALA-rich linseed oil create a balanced aromatic profile with fruity to slightly sharp notes.

Our omega-3 oil is obtained from the microalga Schizochytrium sp., which exhibits one of the highest plant-based DHA contents worldwide. Naturally, the alga also contains EPA. In contrast to other vegan omega-3 products, this alga does not supply the inactive precursor alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), such as is found in linseed oil and which must first be converted into the active form, but rather directly provides the bioactive omega-3 fatty acid DHA.

To ensure standardisation, small quantities of a high-quality, oleic acid–rich sunflower oil are added to the formula. The high oleic acid content in combination with rosemary extract, fat-soluble vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate) and mixed tocopherols (vitamin E) reduces susceptibility to oxidation and thus extends the fatty acids' shelf life. The microalgae used for this product are cultivated in closed fermentation systems that do not interfere with the sea's natural ecosystem, meaning that our omega-3 has no negative impact on fish populations or their natural food sources

Our virgin (extra virgin) olive oil is a medium-fruity, single-variety oil produced in Italy exclusively from organically grown Coratina olives from the Apulia region. This exceptionally high-quality olive oil is characterised by its high content of oleic acid (77-80% of the total amount) and polyphenols. Due to its exceptionally high polyphenol content, the olive oil exhibits slightly sharp to bitter notes.

The premium organic linseed oil used, also known as "golden linseed oil", is a cold-pressed oil from brown seeds and is produced without other additives through mechanical cold pressing and filtration.

We use environmentally friendly amber glass jars for the packaging of this product.

Effects

Omega-3 fatty acids are a special category of polyunsaturated fatty acids. They form an integral part of bodily cell membranes and are a precursor of important tissue hormones. Eicosanoid tissue hormones formed from omega-3 fatty acids influence several important bodily functions including brain and heart function.

The biologically active omega-3 fatty acids are docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). The EFSA has so far approved the following statements:

Phenols

Polyphenols are naturally occurring plant compounds found in tea, cacao, vegetables, fruits and some extra virgin olive oils.

Oleic Acid

Replacing saturated fatty acids with unsaturated fatty acids in the diet helps maintain normal blood cholesterol levels. Oleic acid is an unsaturated fatty acid.

Directions

Take 1 teaspoon (4.75g / 5.2ml) daily with a meal. Shake well before use.

Daily Requirements

EFSA recommends a minimum daily intake of 250mg DHA and/or EPA omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and considers a daily intake of up to 5g to be within safe limits.

Food Supplement

Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced, varied diet and healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of young children.
