How are we different?
Our high-quality fermented ashwagandha powder is derived from pure ashwagandha root powder. Through a carefully controlled, traditional lactic acid fermentation of Lactobacillus plantarum, the ingredient’s stability is supported and the naturally occurring bioactive metabolites become more accessible. This results in an ashwagandha powder with consistent quality and a standardised content of at least 0.7% withanolides as well as 0.6 billion cells (equivalent to 1.2 CFU per gram of Lactobacillus plantarum).
We use special HPMC capsules as capsule shells, which, unlike most other HPMC or pullulan capsules on the market, are manufactured 100% without the non-declared additives carrageenan and PEG. We use light-protected and environmentally friendly amber glass instead of plastic for packaging.
Effects
Effects
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is a plant from the nightshade family. The name comes from Sanskrit and roughly translates as "smell of horse," as the roots have a strong scent that is reminiscent of horses. The term "somnifera" comes from Latin and can be translated as "sleep inducing" (somnus = sleep, ferre = to bring), hence its nickname as the "sleeping berry." In this formula, the roots and leaves of the ashwagandha plant are used and not the berry, which is poisonous in large quantities due to its alkaloid content and has a very bitter taste. The roots and leaves contain withanolides, the most widely studied phytochemicals in ashwagandha. These belong to the group of steroidal lactones and are similar to steroid hormones in their chemical structure.
